Think about whether you would like cupboards and drawers for storage and check to see that the cupboards and drawers have soft closing hinges or quality drawer runners. If you have a small bathroom and want to increase the perceived size, go for a wall hung vanity. Remember the wall you hang the unit on will require reinforcement and support. Always check with your builder or plumber to ensure they have prepared the support required. Wall hung vanity units also require the hot and cold water points and waste to be installed in the wall to enable them to be hidden.
Chose the vanity, then the tiles to match
When choosing a vanity, consider the storage space you require and the dimensions that will fit comfortably in your bathroom. Select the vanity you think will compliment your style and requirements and then print a picture of the vanity you have purchased or will purchase and select tiles that will compliment the overall look and feel you are trying to achieve. It is far easier to select the tiles after you have selected the vanity and if you are stuck for ideas, there are helpful design staff in many tile retailers who can assist in selecting stylish tiles to suit your vanity. Large tiles in neutral colour schemes are very popular and will suit most of our designer vanity units. If you want to increase the perceived floor size of your bathroom, choose larger floor tiles in a darker colour like chocolate or charcoal. Pebbles and stones in different colours can add a complimentary feature to your tile selection and tie in your chosen theme. You can use them vertically in small strips or horizontally as a border. Flat pebble sheeting is a great alternative to a shower base and adds texture and design to compliment any bathroom. Try to visit tile retailers when they are having a sale or ask for a discount. Many tile retailers will provide discounts when approached to make the sale.
Shop around for accessories and tap ware
Tap ware can be expensive, especially for quality modern styles. You can save money by researching the type of taps you like or require and shopping around. There are regular sales at the larger retailers and again, don’t be afraid to ask for a discount or the best price.
